A foolish child ¹  is the ruin of his father, and a contentious wife ²  is like ³  a constant dripping. ⁴ 

It is better to live ¹  in a desert land ²  than with a quarrelsome and easily-provoked ³  woman.

It is better to live on a corner of the housetop than in a house in company with a quarrelsome wife. ¹ 

A continual dripping on a rainy day and a contentious wife ¹  are alike. ² 

under an unloved ¹  woman who is married, and under a female servant who dispossesses ²  her mistress.

They consume their alcohol, then engage in cult prostitution; they dearly love their shameful behavior.

For out of the heart come evil ideas, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

So Herodias nursed a grudge against him and wanted to kill him. But ¹  she could not

Then the Jews who were hostile to Jesus ¹  began complaining about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven,”

But the Jews who refused to believe ¹  stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds ²  against the brothers.

You must put away every kind of bitterness, anger, wrath, quarreling, and evil, slanderous talk.

In my zeal for God I persecuted the church. According to the righteousness stipulated in the law I was blameless.

“Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness.

Come now, you rich! Weep and cry aloud ¹  over the miseries that are coming on you.

I was consumed by scorching heat ¹  during the day and by piercing cold ²  at night, and I went without sleep. ³ 

The previous abundance of the land will not be remembered ¹  because of the famine that follows, for the famine will be very severe. ² 

Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce, and their fury, for it was cruel. I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel! ¹ 

And the Moabites were greatly afraid of the people, because they were so numerous. The Moabites were sick with fear because of the Israelites.

So the people came to Bethel ¹  and sat there before God until evening, weeping loudly and uncontrollably. ²
