I said, ¹  “I have heard a message from the Lord. A messenger has been sent among the nations to say, ‘Gather your armies and march out against her! Prepare to do battle with her!’” ² 

The Edomites had again invaded and defeated Judah and carried off captives.

“Son of man, turn toward ¹  Mount Seir, ²  and prophesy against it.

So I will set Teman ¹  on fire; fire ²  will consume Bozrah’s ³  fortresses.”

The people of the earth will quake when they hear of their downfall. ¹  Their cries of anguish will be heard all the way to the Gulf of Aqaba. ² 

“This is what the sovereign Lord says: ‘Moab ¹  and Seir say, “Look, the house of Judah is like all the other nations.”

I will fill its mountains with its dead; on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines, those killed by the sword will fall.
