They meet with darkness in the daytime, ¹  and grope about ²  in the noontime as if it were night. ³ 

They glide by ¹  like reed ²  boats, like an eagle that swoops ³  down on its prey. ⁴ 

Indeed, ¹  you are my lamp, Lord. ²  My God ³  illuminates the darkness around me. ⁴ 

But then one passes by, and suddenly they have disappeared! ¹  I looked for them, but they could not be found.

But then the Lord awoke from his sleep; ¹  he was like a warrior in a drunken rage. ² 

He then orders it all to melt; ¹  he breathes on it, ²  and the water flows.

Suddenly ¹  a woman came out to meet him! She was dressed like a prostitute ²  and with secret intent. ³ 

There are times, Jeremiah, ¹  when I threaten to uproot, tear down, and destroy a nation or kingdom. ² 

And there are times when I promise to build up and establish ¹  a nation or kingdom.

Then ¹  a hand touched me and set me on my hands and knees. ² 

Armies ¹  will be suddenly ²  swept away in defeat ³  before him; both they and a covenant leader ⁴  will be destroyed. ⁵ 

After Herod ¹  had died, an ²  angel of the Lord ³  appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt

And ¹  a voice from heaven said, ²  “This is my one dear Son; ³  in him ⁴  I take great delight.” ⁵ 

And their eyes were opened. Then Jesus sternly warned them, “See that no one knows about this.”

Peter ¹  said to him, ²  “Lord, if it is you, order me to come to you on the water.”

Just then there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit, ¹  and he cried out, ² 

Then ¹  he placed his hands on her, and immediately ²  she straightened up and praised God.

While ¹  they were talking and debating ²  these things, ³  Jesus himself approached and began to accompany them

At this point ¹  their eyes were opened and they recognized ²  him. ³  Then ⁴  he vanished out of their sight.

While they were saying these things, Jesus ¹  himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” ²
