On the next day John ¹  saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God ²  who takes away the sin of the world!

For no one who seeks to make a reputation for himself ¹  does anything in secret. ²  If you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.”

do you say about the one whom the Father set apart ¹  and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?

Thus the Pharisees ¹  said to one another, “You see that you can do nothing. Look, the world has run off after him!”

The one who loves his life ¹  destroys ²  it, and the one who hates his life in this world guards ³  it for eternal life.

I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in darkness.

In a little while ¹  the world will not see me any longer, but you will see me; because I live, you will live too.

“Lord,” Judas (not Judas Iscariot) ¹  said, ²  “what has happened that you are going to reveal ³  yourself to us and not to the world?”

I will not speak with you much longer, ¹  for the ruler of this world is coming. ²  He has no power over me, ³ 

but I am doing just what the Father commanded me, so that the world may know ¹  that I love the Father. ²  Get up, let us go from here.” ³ 

I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  you will weep ²  and wail, ³  but the world will rejoice; you will be sad, ⁴  but your sadness will turn into ⁵  joy.

But now I am coming to you, and I am saying these things in the world, so they may experience ¹  my joy completed ²  in themselves.

I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but that you keep them safe ¹  from the evil one. ² 

Righteous Father, even if the world does not know you, I know you, and these men ¹  know that you sent me.

The man ¹  replied, “How in the world can I, ²  unless someone guides me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

The God who made the world and everything in it, ¹  who is ²  Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by human hands, ³ 

First of all, ¹  I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed throughout the whole world.

So then, just as sin entered the world through one man and death through sin, and so death spread to all people ¹  because ²  all sinned –

for before the law was given, ¹  sin was in the world, but there is no accounting for sin ²  when there is no law.

But I ask, have they ¹  not heard? ²  Yes, they have: ³  Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. ⁴
