Don’t consider your servant a wicked woman, ¹  for until now I have spoken from my deep pain and anguish.”

She said, “May I, your servant, find favor in your sight.” So the woman went her way and got something to eat. ¹  Her face no longer looked sad.

She said, “Just as surely as you are alive, my lord, I am the woman who previously stood here with you in order to pray to the Lord.

Now the woman ¹  had a well-fed calf ²  at her home that she quickly slaughtered. Taking some flour, she kneaded bread and baked it without leaven.

So David sent someone to inquire about the woman. The messenger ¹  said, “Isn’t this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?”

He called his personal attendant and said to him, “Take this woman out of my sight ¹  and lock the door behind her!”

So the Tekoan woman went ¹  to the king. She bowed down with her face to the ground in deference to him and said, “Please help me, ²  O king!”

Then the woman said, “Please permit your servant to speak to my lord the king about another matter.” He replied, “Tell me.”

a wise woman called out from the city, “Listen up! Listen up! Tell Joab, ‘Come near so that I may speak to you.’”

So they looked through all Israel ¹  for a beautiful young woman and found Abishag, a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

The young woman was very beautiful; she became the king’s nurse and served him, but the king did not have sexual relations with her. ¹ 

One of the women said, “My master, this woman and I live in the same house. I had a baby while she was with me in the house.

After this ¹  the son of the woman who owned the house got sick. His illness was so severe he could no longer breathe.

The woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a prophet and that the Lord really does speak through you.” ¹ 

He told his servant Gehazi, “Ask the Shunammite woman to come here.” ¹  So he did so and she came to him. ² 

The woman did conceive, and at the specified time the next year she gave birth to a son, just as Elisha had told her.

Elisha ¹  called to Gehazi and said, “Get the Shunammite woman.” So he did so ²  and she came to him. He said to her, “Take your son.”

While the king of Israel was passing by on the city wall, a woman shouted to him, “Help us, my master, O king!”

So the woman did as the prophet said. ¹  She and her family went and lived in the land of the Philistines for seven years.

After seven years the woman returned from the land of the Philistines and went to ask the king to give her back her house and field. ¹
