When ¹  the head steward tasted the water that had been turned to wine, not knowing where it came from ²  (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), he ³  called the bridegroom

Jesus answered ¹  her, “If you had known ²  the gift of God and who it is who said to you, ‘Give me some water ³  to drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” ⁴ 

The sick man answered him, “Sir, ¹  I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up. While I am trying to get into the water, ²  someone else ³  goes down there ⁴  before me.”

Now as they were going along the road, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Look, there is water! What is to stop me ¹  from being baptized?” ² 

For they deliberately suppress this fact, ¹  that by the word of God ²  heavens existed long ago and an earth ³  was formed out of water and by means of water.

Now ¹  a river flows ²  from Eden ³  to water the orchard, and from there it divides ⁴  into four headstreams. ⁵ 

Let a little water be brought so that ¹  you may all ²  wash your feet and rest under the tree.

When the water in the skin was gone, she shoved ¹  the child under one of the shrubs.

Abraham’s servant ¹  ran to meet her and said, “Please give me a sip of water from your jug.”

When Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and discovered a well with fresh flowing ¹  water there,

You are to put the large basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it. ¹ 

Any creature in the water that does not have both fins and scales is detestable to you.

but if water is put on the seed and such a carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.

The priest will then command that one bird be slaughtered ¹  into a clay vessel over fresh water. ² 

Anyone who touches his bed ¹  must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening. ² 

“‘When a man has a seminal emission, ¹  he must bathe his whole body in water ²  and be unclean until evening,

Anyone who touches her bed must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

Anyone who touches any furniture she sits on must wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

“‘Then the priest will write these curses on a scroll and then scrape them off into the bitter water. ¹ 

And there was no water for the community, and so they gathered themselves together against Moses and Aaron.
