All the Israelites who were twenty years old or older, who could serve in Israel’s army, were numbered ¹  according to their families.

“Number the Levites by their clans ¹  and their families; every male from a month old and upward you are to number.” ² 

Counting every male from a month old and upward, there were 8,600. They were responsible for the care ¹  of the sanctuary.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Number all the firstborn males of the Israelites from a month old and upward, and take ¹  the number of their names.

And all the firstborn males, by the number of the names from a month old and upward, totaled 22,273.

“Take a census of the whole community of Israelites, from twenty years old and upward, by their clans, ¹  everyone who can serve in the army of Israel.” ²

But you must offer as the burnt offering, as a sweet aroma to the Lord, two young bulls, one ram, seven lambs one year old,

You must offer a burnt offering as a sweet aroma to the Lord: one young bull, one ram, and seven lambs one year old without blemish.

They annihilated with the sword everything that breathed in the city, ¹  including men and women, young and old, as well as cattle, sheep, and donkeys.

Gideon son of Joash died at a very ¹  old age and was buried in the tomb of his father Joash located in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

When he looked up and saw the traveler ¹  in the town square, the old man said, “Where are you heading? Where do you come from?”

The old man said, “Everything is just fine! ¹  I will take care of all your needs. But don’t spend the night in the town square.”
