In the fourth generation ¹  your descendants ²  will return here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its limit.” ³

See here! ¹  Its blood was not brought into the holy place within! ²  You should certainly have eaten it in the sanctuary just as I commanded!”

Why ¹  have you brought up the Lord’s community into this wilderness? So that ²  we and our cattle should die here?

Then they came very close to him and said, “We will build sheep folds here for our flocks and cities for our families, ¹ 

So I must die here in this land; I will not cross the Jordan. But you are going over and will possess that ¹  good land.

to dispossess nations greater and stronger than you and brought you here this day to give you their land as your property. ¹ 

He ¹  did not make this covenant with our ancestors ²  but with us, we who are here today, all of us living now.

But as for you, map out the land into seven regions and bring it to me. I will draw lots for you here before the Lord our God.
