Then they found an Egyptian in the field and brought him to David. They gave him bread to eat and water to drink.

David was thirsty and said, “How I wish someone would give me some water to drink from the cistern in Bethlehem near the gate!”

The people of Judah and Israel were as innumerable as the sand on the seashore; they had plenty to eat and drink and were happy.

As for my sheep, they must eat what you trampled with your feet, and drink what you have muddied with your feet!

You will eat fat until you are full, and drink blood until you are drunk, ¹  at my slaughter ²  which I have made for you.

No one brings grain offerings or drink offerings to the temple ¹  of the Lord anymore. ²  So the priests, those who serve the Lord, are in mourning.

and they cast lots for my people. They traded ¹  a boy for a prostitute; they sold a little girl for wine so they could drink. ² 

They drink wine from sacrificial bowls, ¹  and pour the very best oils on themselves. ²  Yet they are not concerned over ³  the ruin ⁴  of Joseph.
