Now ¹  when Jesus ²  had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about the parable.

But they were silent, for on the way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest.

But ¹  she was greatly troubled ²  by his words and began to wonder about the meaning of this greeting. ³ 

Then ¹  Jesus, in the power of the Spirit, ²  returned to Galilee, and news about him spread ³  throughout the surrounding countryside. ⁴ 

John’s ¹  disciples informed him about all these things. So ²  John called ³  two of his disciples

So if ¹  you cannot do such a very little thing as this, why do you worry about ²  the rest?

Now ¹  while some were speaking about the temple, how it was adorned ²  with beautiful stones and offerings, ³  Jesus ⁴  said,

When ¹  those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said, “Lord, should ²  we use our swords?” ³ 

And after about an hour still another insisted, ¹  “Certainly this man was with him, because he too is a Galilean.” ² 

It was now ¹  about noon, ²  and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, ³ 

He came as a witness ¹  to testify ²  about the light, so that everyone ³  might believe through him.

Now a dispute came about between some of John’s disciples and a certain Jew ¹  concerning ceremonial washing. ² 

The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I am testifying about it that its deeds are evil.

The disciples began to look at one another, worried and perplexed ¹  to know which of them he was talking about.

Jesus replied, ¹  “Are you saying this on your own initiative, ²  or have others told you about me?”

In those days ¹  Peter stood up among the believers ²  (a gathering of about one hundred and twenty people) and said,

So those who accepted ¹  his message ²  were baptized, and that day about three thousand people ³  were added. ⁴ 

When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple courts, ¹  he asked them for money. ² 

And all the prophets, from Samuel and those who followed him, have spoken about and announced ¹  these days.

When Ananias heard these words he collapsed and died, and great fear gripped ¹  all who heard about it.
