As a matter of fact, ¹  even your own brothers and the members of your own family have betrayed you too. Even they have plotted to do away with you. ²  So do not trust them even when they say kind things ³  to you.

A man who is all alone with no companion, ¹  he has no children nor siblings; ²  yet there is no end to all his toil, and he ³  is never satisfied with riches. He laments, ⁴  “For whom am I toiling and depriving myself ⁵  of pleasure?” ⁶  This also is futile and a burdensome task! ⁷ 

And sons were also born ¹  to Shem (the older brother of Japheth), ²  the father of all the sons of Eber.

Now Lot, who was traveling ¹  with Abram, also had ²  flocks, herds, and tents.

But I will execute judgment on the nation that they will serve. ¹  Afterward they will come out with many possessions.

Now Abimelech had not gone near her. He said, “Lord, ¹  would you really slaughter an innocent nation? ²

When she had done so, ¹  she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have drunk as much as they want.”

His servants ¹  dug another well, but they quarreled over it too, so Isaac named it ²  Sitnah. ³ 

Then Rachel said, “I have fought a desperate struggle with my sister, but I have won.” ¹  So she named him Naphtali. ² 

Hasn’t he treated us like foreigners? He not only sold us, but completely wasted ¹  the money paid for us! ² 

Then Leah came forward with her children and they bowed down. Finally Joseph and Rachel came forward and bowed down.

If one of us has it, ¹  he will die, and the rest of us will become my lord’s slaves!”

Then his brothers also came and threw themselves down before him; they said, “Here we are; we are your slaves.”

And Pharaoh turned and went into his house. He did not pay any attention to this. ¹ 

But Moses said, “Will you also ¹  provide us ²  with sacrifices and burnt offerings that we may present them ³  to the Lord our God?

A mixed multitude ¹  also went up with them, and flocks and herds – a very large number of cattle. ² 

Let the priests also, who approach the Lord, sanctify themselves, lest the Lord break through ¹  against them.”

I myself will also walk in hostility against you and strike you ¹  seven times on account of your sins.
