For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited ¹  to him as righteousness.” ² 

So even David himself speaks regarding the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:

For he says to Moses: “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” ¹ 

But not all have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” ¹ 

and I will be a father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” ¹  says the All-Powerful Lord. ² 

Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he captured ¹  captives; he gave gifts to men.” ² 

For everything made evident is light, and for this reason it says: ¹  “Awake, ²  O sleeper! ³  Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you!” ⁴ 

For the scripture says, “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,” ¹  and, “The worker deserves his pay.” ² 

But when he again brings ¹  his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all the angels of God worship him!” ² 

So when he came into the world, he said, “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me.

Or do you think the scripture means nothing when it says, ¹  “The spirit that God ²  caused ³  to live within us has an envious yearning”? ⁴ 

But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.” ¹ 

Then when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, ¹  do you love me more than these do?” ²  He replied, ³  “Yes, Lord, you know I love you.” ⁴  Jesus ⁵  told him, “Feed my lambs.”

Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, ¹  Satan! For it is written: ‘You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” ² 

But ¹  he said to them, “Why are you cowardly, you people of little faith?” Then he got up and rebuked ²  the winds and the sea, ³  and it was dead calm.

Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out and it was restored, ¹  as healthy as the other.

Then it says, ‘I will return to the home I left.’ ¹  When it returns, ²  it finds the house ³  empty, swept clean, and put in order. ⁴ 

Then his lord called the first slave ¹  and said to him, ‘Evil slave! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me!

Jesus ¹  said to them, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because of your hard hearts, ²  but from the beginning it was not this way.

“Which ones?” he asked. Jesus replied, “Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,
