For even if I made you sad ¹  by my letter, ²  I do not regret having written it ³  (even though I did regret it, ⁴  for ⁵  I see that my letter made you sad, ⁶  though only for a short time).

Now I, Paul, appeal to you ¹  personally ²  by the meekness and gentleness ³  of Christ (I who am meek ⁴  when present among ⁵  you, but am full of courage ⁶  toward you when away!) –

Look, for the third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you, because I do not want your possessions, but you. For children should not have ¹  to save up for their parents, but parents for their children.

in that ¹  our gospel did not come to you merely in words, ²  but in power and in the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction (surely you recall the character we displayed when we came among you to help you). ³ 

Finally then, brothers and sisters, ¹  we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received instruction from us about how ²  you must live and please God (as you are in fact living) ³  that you do so more and more.

But I say to you, love your enemy and ¹  pray for those who persecute you,

“Watch out for false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are voracious wolves. ¹ 

Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Go away from me, you lawbreakers!’ ¹ 

“Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. ¹ 

But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God ¹  has already overtaken ²  you.

If ¹  this matter is heard before the governor, ²  we will satisfy him ³  and keep you out of trouble.” ⁴ 

Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will turn you into fishers of people.” ¹ 

“But I say to you who are listening: Love your enemies, ¹  do good to those who hate you,

Whenever ¹  you enter a town ²  and the people ³  welcome you, eat what is set before you.

Heal ¹  the sick in that town ²  and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God ³  has come upon ⁴  you!’

But whenever ¹  you enter a town ²  and the people ³  do not welcome ⁴  you, go into its streets ⁵  and say,

But if I cast out demons by the finger ¹  of God, then the kingdom of God ²  has already overtaken ³  you.

for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that moment ¹  what you must say.” ² 

But Jesus ¹  said to him, “Man, ²  who made me a judge or arbitrator between you two?” ³ 

If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs ¹  it.’”
