Suddenly there was a severe earthquake, for an angel of the Lord ¹  descending from heaven came and rolled away the stone and sat on it.

Then Jesus came up and said to them, ¹  “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

And just as Jesus ¹  was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens ²  splitting apart and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. ³ 

Then the Pharisees ¹  came and began to argue with Jesus, asking for ²  a sign from heaven ³  to test him.

Then he will send angels and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven. ¹ 

“But as for that day or hour no one knows it – neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son ¹  – except the Father.

After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.

Now when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do you want us to call fire to come down from heaven and consume ¹  them?” ² 

Nevertheless, do not rejoice that ¹  the spirits submit to you, but rejoice ²  that your names stand written ³  in heaven.”

You hypocrites! ¹  You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how can you not know how ²  to interpret the present time?

I will get up and go to my father and say to him, “Father, I have sinned ¹  against heaven ²  and against ³  you.

So ¹  they discussed it with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why did you not believe him?’

Then ¹  John testified, ²  “I saw the Spirit descending like a dove ³  from heaven, ⁴  and it remained on him. ⁵ 

John replied, ¹  “No one can receive anything unless it has been given to him from heaven.

Our ancestors ¹  ate the manna in the wilderness, just as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” ² 

For I have come down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me.

Then the Jews who were hostile to Jesus ¹  began complaining about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven,”

This ¹  is the bread that has come down from heaven, so that a person ²  may eat from it and not die.

As ¹  they were still staring into the sky while he was going, suddenly ²  two men in white clothing stood near them

Suddenly ¹  a sound ²  like a violent wind blowing ³  came from heaven ⁴  and filled the entire house where they were sitting.
