But carefully obey the commands and instructions Moses the Lord’s servant gave you. Love ¹  the Lord your God, follow all his instructions, ²  obey ³  his commands, be loyal to him, ⁴  and serve him with all your heart and being!” ⁵ 

Then Absalom happened to come across David’s men. Now as Absalom was riding on his ¹  mule, it ²  went under the branches of a large oak tree. His head got caught in the oak and he was suspended in midair, ³  while the mule he had been riding kept going.

Then ¹  his wife said to him, “Are you still holding firmly to your integrity? ²  Curse ³  God, and die!” ⁴ 

“My days ¹  are swifter than a runner, ²  they speed by without seeing happiness.

So I ¹  waste away like something rotten, ²  like a garment eaten by moths.

A trap ¹  seizes him by the heel; a snare ²  grips him.

But if they are bound in chains, ¹  and held captive by the cords of affliction,

They lock tightly together, one to the next; ¹  they cling together and cannot be separated.

You created the mountains by your power, ¹  and demonstrated your strength. ² 

for a prostitute is like ¹  a deep pit; a harlot ²  is like ³  a narrow well. ⁴ 

For no one ¹  can eat and drink ²  or experience joy ³  apart from him. ⁴ 

So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and went on his way. He went home and stayed in Nineveh. ¹ 

They look like horses; ¹  they charge ahead like war horses.

So ¹  the news about him spread quickly throughout all the region around Galilee.

As they got out of the boat, people immediately recognized Jesus. ¹ 

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother, ¹ 

What shall we say then? Is there injustice with God? Absolutely not!

So then, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.

Nevertheless, let us live up to the standard ¹  that we have already attained. ² 

holding to the mystery of the faith ¹  with a clear conscience.
