For evil does not come up from the dust, ¹  nor does trouble spring up from the ground,

Although ¹  I am innocent, ²  I could not answer him; ³  I could only plead ⁴  with my judge ⁵  for mercy.

Although its roots may grow old ¹  in the ground and its stump begins to die ²  in the soil, ³ 

Although you were a powerful man, ¹  owning land, ²  an honored man ³  living on it, ⁴ 

Yes, ¹  they intend to do you harm; ²  they dream up a scheme, ³  but they do not succeed. ⁴ 

Even if my father and mother abandoned me, ¹  the Lord would take me in. ² 

Do not withhold discipline from a child; even if you strike him with the rod, he will not die.

Although ¹  a righteous person may fall seven times, he gets up again, but the wicked will be brought down ²  by calamity.

A servant ¹  cannot be corrected ²  by words, for although ³  he understands, there is no answer. ⁴

Are you so foolish? Although you began ¹  with ²  the Spirit, are you now trying to finish ³  by human effort? ⁴ 

¹  although we could have imposed our weight as apostles of Christ; instead we became ²  little children ³  among you. Like a nursing mother caring for her own children,

This brings you great joy, ¹  although you may have to suffer ²  for a short time in various trials.

yet even ¹  angels, who are much more powerful, ²  do not bring a slanderous ³  judgment against them before the Lord. ⁴ 

and said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, O Lord, let my Lord ¹  go among us, for we ²  are a stiff-necked people; pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.”
