“So I will set apart as holy ¹  the tent of meeting and the altar, and I will set apart as holy Aaron and his sons, that they may minister as priests to me.

So Aaron said to them, “Break off the gold earrings that are on the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” ¹ 

Moses said to Aaron, “What did this people do to you, that you have brought on them so great a sin?”

Aaron said, “Do not let your anger burn hot, my lord; ¹  you know these people, that they tend to evil. ² 

Moses saw that the people were running wild, ¹  for Aaron had let them get completely out of control, causing derision from their enemies. ² 

When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, the skin of his face shone; ¹  and they were afraid to approach him.

But Moses called to them, so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and Moses spoke to them.

“You are to bring ¹  Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of meeting and wash them with water.

Then you are to clothe Aaron with the holy garments and anoint him and sanctify him so that he may minister as my priest.

“‘This is the law of the grain offering. The sons of Aaron are to present it ¹  before the Lord in front of the altar,

Then he brought near the sin offering bull ¹  and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the sin offering bull,

Then he presented the burnt offering ram and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram,

Then he presented the second ram, the ram of ordination, ¹  and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram

He then put all of them on the palms ¹  of Aaron and his sons, who waved ²  them as a wave offering before the Lord. ³ 

Finally Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh as a wave offering before the Lord just as Moses had commanded.

The Lord spoke to Moses after the death of Aaron’s two sons when they approached the presence of the Lord ¹  and died,
