When they heard this, ¹  they ceased their objections ²  and praised ³  God, saying, “So then, God has granted the repentance ⁴  that leads to life even to the Gentiles.” ⁵ 

When they are scorched, ¹  they dry up, when it is hot, they vanish ²  from their place.

Why do you hide your face ¹  and regard me as your enemy?

There is no actual speech or word, nor is its ¹  voice literally heard.

He calmed the storm, ¹  and the waves ²  grew silent.

I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you will be silent and unable to reprove ¹  them, for they are a rebellious house.

Groan in silence for the dead, ¹  but do not perform mourning rites. ²  Bind on your turban ³  and put your sandals on your feet. Do not cover your lip ⁴  and do not eat food brought by others.” ⁵ 

The women singing in the temple ¹  will wail in that day.” The sovereign Lord is speaking. “There will be many corpses littered everywhere! ²  Be quiet!”

When the commanding officer ¹  had given him permission, ²  Paul stood ³  on the steps and gestured ⁴  to the people with his hand. When they had become silent, ⁵  he addressed ⁶  them in Aramaic, ⁷ 

Yet I have not been silent because of the darkness, because of the thick darkness that covered my face. ¹ 

the voices of the nobles fell silent, ¹  and their tongues stuck to the roof of their mouths.
