They said to him, “Look, there are fifty capable men with your servants. Let them go and look for your master, for the wind sent from the Lord ¹  may have carried him away and dropped him on one of the hills or in one of the valleys.” But Elisha ²  replied, “Don’t send them out.”

He does ¹  great and unsearchable ²  things, marvelous things without ³  number; ⁴ 

But ¹  if you will look ²  to God, and make your supplication ³  to the Almighty,

“For inquire now of the former ¹  generation, and pay attention ²  to the findings ³  of their ancestors; ⁴ 

Destruction ¹  and Death say, ‘With our ears we have heard a rumor about where it can be found.’ ² 

Turn away from evil and do what is right! ¹  Strive for peace and promote it! ² 

I will be secure, ¹  for I seek your precepts.

The wicked have no chance for deliverance, ¹  for they do not seek your statutes.

Those who linger over wine, those who go looking for mixed wine. ¹ 

then I discerned all that God has done: ¹  No one really comprehends what happens ²  on earth. ³  Despite all human ⁴  efforts to discover it, no one can ever grasp ⁵  it. ⁶  Even if ⁷  a wise person claimed ⁸  that he understood, he would not really comprehend ⁹  it.

For the Son of Man came ¹  to seek and to save the lost.”

For Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks ask for wisdom,

But when he arrived in Rome, ¹  he eagerly searched for me and found me.

For those who speak in such a way make it clear that they are seeking a homeland.
