Job took a shard of broken pottery to scrape ¹  himself ²  with while he was sitting ³  among the ashes. ⁴ 

if you become ¹  pure ²  and upright, ³  even now he will rouse himself ⁴  for you, and will restore ⁵  your righteous abode. ⁶ 

if he retains it for himself and does not let it go, and holds it fast in his mouth, ¹

Why does the wicked man reject God? ¹  He says to himself, ²  “You ³  will not hold me accountable.” ⁴ 

He pronounces this blessing on himself while he is alive: “May men praise you, for you have done well!”

He covers himself with light as if it were a garment. He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain,

But the one who does not find me ¹  brings harm ²  to himself; ³  all who hate me ⁴  love death.”

The one who conducts himself ¹  in integrity ²  will live ³  securely, but the one who behaves perversely ⁴  will be found out.

A generous person ¹  will be enriched, ²  and the one who provides water ³  for others ⁴  will himself be satisfied. ⁵ 

When a person’s ¹  ways are pleasing to the Lord, ²  he ³  even reconciles his enemies to himself. ⁴ 

The king’s terrifying anger ¹  is like the roar of a lion; whoever provokes him ²  sins against himself. ³ 

A shrewd person ¹  sees danger ²  and hides himself, but the naive keep right on going ³  and suffer for it. ⁴ 

Thorns and snares ¹  are in the path of the perverse, but the one who guards himself keeps far from them.

So if ¹  Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?

Then his fellow slave threw himself down and begged him, ¹  ‘Be patient with me, and I will repay you.’

But if ¹  that evil slave should say to himself, ²  ‘My master is staying away a long time,’

So ¹  Judas threw the silver coins into the temple and left. Then he went out and hanged himself.

And if Satan rises against himself and is divided, he is not able to stand and his end has come.
