and if he did not spare the ancient world, but did protect Noah, a herald of righteousness, along with seven others, ¹  when God ²  brought a flood on an ungodly world, ³ 

When Joseph awoke from sleep he did what the angel of the Lord ¹  told him. He took his wife,

but did not have marital relations ¹  with her until she gave birth to a son, whom he named ²  Jesus.

What did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more ¹  than a prophet.

He ¹  said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –

But when the sun came up, they were scorched, and because they did not have sufficient root, they withered.

Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the crowds; he did not speak to them without a parable.

Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

They said to him, “Why then did Moses command us to give a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her?” ¹ 

When the disciples saw it they were amazed, saying, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?”

When the sun came up it was scorched, and because it did not have sufficient root, ¹  it withered.

Other seed fell among the thorns, ¹  and they grew up and choked it, ²  and it did not produce grain.

He did not speak to them without a parable. But privately he explained everything to his own disciples.

They went out from there and passed through Galilee. But ¹  Jesus ²  did not want anyone to know,

And when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.

But they did not have a child, because Elizabeth was barren, ¹  and they were both very old. ² 

Jesus ¹  answered them, ²  “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –

What did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more ¹  than a prophet.

You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet ¹  with perfumed oil.

The ¹  Pharisee was astonished when he saw that Jesus ²  did not first wash his hands ³  before the meal.
