Total darkness waits to receive his treasures; ¹  a fire which has not been kindled ²  will consume him and devour what is left in his tent.

For look, the wicked ¹  prepare ²  their bows, ³  they put their arrows on the strings, to shoot in the darkness ⁴  at the morally upright. ⁵ 

Yet you have battered us, leaving us a heap of ruins overrun by wild dogs; ¹  you have covered us with darkness. ² 

If I were to say, “Certainly the darkness will cover me, ¹  and the light will turn to night all around me,” ² 

The wise man can see where he is going, ¹  but the fool walks in darkness. Yet I also realized that the same fate ²  happens to them both. ³ 

I am ¹  the one who forms light and creates darkness; ²  the one who brings about peace and creates calamity. ³  I am the Lord, who accomplishes all these things.

The sunlight will be turned to darkness and the moon to the color of blood, ¹  before the day of the Lord comes – that great and terrible day!

Don’t you realize the Lord’s day of judgment will bring ¹  darkness, not light – gloomy blackness, not bright light?

My enemies, ¹  do not gloat ²  over me! Though I have fallen, I will get up. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. ³ 

the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, and on those who sit in the region and shadow of death a light has dawned.” ¹ 

but the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” ¹ 

to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, ¹  to guide our feet into the way ²  of peace.”

I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in darkness.

The sun will be changed to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and glorious ¹  day of the Lord comes.

and if you are convinced ¹  that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,

The night has advanced toward dawn; the day is near. So then we must lay aside the works of darkness, and put on the weapons of light.

Do not become partners ¹  with those who do not believe, for what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship does light have with darkness?

for you were at one time darkness, but now you are ¹  light in the Lord. Walk as children of the light –

For you all are sons of the light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of the darkness.

For you have not come to something that can be touched, ¹  to a burning fire and darkness and gloom and a whirlwind
