Now ¹  in those days Jesus came from Nazareth ²  in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan River. ³ 

And a voice came from heaven: “You are my one dear Son; ¹  in you I take great delight.” ² 

Then ¹  they went to Capernaum. ²  When the Sabbath came, ³  Jesus ⁴  went into the synagogue ⁵  and began to teach.

After throwing him into convulsions, the unclean spirit cried out with a loud voice and came out of him.

Jesus ¹  went out again by the sea. The whole crowd came to him, and he taught them.

Now ¹  Jesus went up the mountain ²  and called for those he wanted, and they came to him.

Then ¹  Jesus’ ²  mother and his brothers ³  came. Standing ⁴  outside, they sent word to him, to summon him.

And as he sowed, some seed ¹  fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.

When the sun came up it was scorched, and because it did not have sufficient root, ¹  it withered.

Then ¹  one of the synagogue rulers, ²  named Jairus, ³  came up, and when he saw Jesus, ⁴  he fell at his feet.

When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, ¹ 

They came to the house of the synagogue ruler where ¹  he saw noisy confusion and people weeping and wailing loudly. ² 

When John’s ¹  disciples heard this, they came and took his body and placed it in a tomb.

When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea and he was alone on the land.

Now ¹  the Pharisees ²  and some of the experts in the law ³  who came from Jerusalem ⁴  gathered around him.

Then the Pharisees ¹  came and began to argue with Jesus, asking for ²  a sign from heaven ³  to test him.

Then ¹  they came to Bethsaida. They brought a blind man to Jesus ²  and asked him to touch him.

Then some Pharisees ¹  came, and to test him ²  they asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his ³  wife?” ⁴ 

And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, ¹  worth less than a penny.

Now ¹  while Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the high priest’s slave girls ²  came by.
