the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, ¹  the son of Nahor,

Then ¹  the rich man ²  said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead ³  goes to them, they will repent.’

Then ¹  Jesus said to him, “Today salvation ²  has come to this household, ³  because he too is a son of Abraham! ⁴ 

Jesus said to them, “I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  before Abraham came into existence, ²  I am!” ³ 

What then shall we say that Abraham, our ancestor according to the flesh, ¹  has discovered regarding this matter? ² 

For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited ¹  to him as righteousness.” ² 

But the statement it was credited to him ¹  was not written only for Abraham’s ²  sake,

nor are all the children Abraham’s true descendants; rather “through Isaac will your descendants be counted.” ¹ 

Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they descendants of Abraham? So am I.

And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, ¹  heirs according to the promise.

For surely his concern is not for angels, but he is concerned for Abraham’s descendants.

Now when God made his promise to Abraham, since he could swear by no one greater, he swore by himself,

But see how great he must be, if ¹  Abraham the patriarch gave him a tithe ²  of his plunder.

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?

No longer will your name be ¹  Abram. Instead, your name will be Abraham ²  because I will make you ³  the father of a multitude of nations.

Then God said to Abraham, “As for you, you must keep ¹  the covenantal requirement ²  I am imposing on you and your descendants after you throughout their generations.

Then God said to Abraham, “As for your wife, you must no longer call her Sarai; ¹  Sarah ²  will be her name.

The Lord appeared to Abraham ¹  by the oaks ²  of Mamre while ³  he was sitting at the entrance ⁴  to his tent during the hottest time of the day.

So Abraham hurried into the tent and said to Sarah, “Quick! Take ¹  three measures ²  of fine flour, knead it, and make bread.” ³ 

Then Abraham ran to the herd and chose a fine, tender calf, and gave it to a servant, ¹  who quickly prepared it. ²
