For God has put into their minds ¹  to carry out his purpose ²  by making ³  a decision ⁴  to give their royal power ⁵  to the beast until the words of God are fulfilled. ⁶ 

These words I am commanding you today must be kept in mind,

If you think, “These nations are more numerous than I – how can I dispossess them?”

Make sure you do not turn away to serve and worship other gods! ¹ 

Now if you say to yourselves, ¹  ‘How can we tell that a message is not from the Lord?’ ²  –

“I said, ‘I want to cut them in pieces. ¹  I want to make people forget they ever existed.

Relent, ¹  let there be no falsehood; ²  reconsider, ³  for my righteousness is intact! ⁴ 

Will they not ¹  instruct you and ²  speak to you, and bring forth words ³  from their understanding? ⁴ 

Yes, ¹  they intend to do you harm; ²  they dream up a scheme, ³  but they do not succeed. ⁴ 

I am forgotten, like a dead man no one thinks about; ¹  I am regarded as worthless, like a broken jar. ² 

If we had rejected our God, ¹  and spread out our hands in prayer to another god, ² 

How blessed are those who ¹  find their strength in you, and long to travel the roads that lead to your temple! ² 

What the righteous say ¹  is like ²  the best ³  silver, but what the wicked think ⁴  is of little value. ⁵ 

The Lord abhors ¹  those who are perverse in heart, ²  but those who are blameless in their ways ³  are his delight. ⁴ 

A person ¹  is praised in accordance with ²  his wisdom, but the one who has a twisted mind ³  is despised.

As the heaven is high ¹  and the earth is deep so the hearts of kings are unsearchable. ² 

You keep completely safe the people who maintain their faith, for they trust in you. ¹ 

Then ¹  the rich man ²  said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead ³  goes to them, they will repent.’

Then ¹  they said, “Why do we need further testimony? We have heard it ourselves ²  from his own lips!” ³ 

Then ¹  he said to them, “Why are you frightened, ²  and why do doubts ³  arise in your hearts?
