He delivers me ¹  from my enemies; you snatch me away ²  from those who attack me; ³  you rescue me from violent men.

The one whose deeds are blameless and whose motives are pure, ¹  who does not lie, ²  or make promises with no intention of keeping them. ³ 

The bravehearted ¹  were plundered; ²  they “fell asleep.” ³  All the warriors were helpless. ⁴ 

¹ On a bare hill raise a signal flag, shout to them, wave your hand, so they might enter the gates of the princes!

Then he said, ‘Observe ¹  that all the male goats mating with ²  the flock are streaked, speckled, or spotted, for I have observed all that Laban has done to you.

In the west, people respect ¹  the Lord’s reputation; ²  in the east they recognize his splendor. ³  For he comes like a rushing ⁴  stream driven on by wind sent from the Lord. ⁵ 

“In those times many will oppose ¹  the king of the south. ²  Those who are violent ³  among your own people will rise up in confirmation of ⁴  the vision, but they will falter.

But Jesus ¹  replied, ²  “Woe to you experts in religious law as well! ³  You load people ⁴  down with burdens difficult to bear, yet you yourselves refuse to touch ⁵  the burdens with even one of your fingers!

Don’t you say, ¹  ‘There are four more months and then comes the harvest?’ I tell you, look up ²  and see that the fields are already white ³  for harvest!

David replied to him, “How is it that you were not afraid to reach out your hand to destroy the Lord’s anointed?”

If I lift myself up, ¹  you hunt me as a fierce lion, ²  and again ³  you display your power ⁴  against me.

When people are brought low ¹  and you say ‘Lift them up!’ ²  then he will save the downcast; ³ 

But you, Lord, are a shield that protects me; ¹  you are my glory ²  and the one who restores me. ³ 

Hurry and look ¹  at the permanent ruins, and all the damage the enemy has done to the temple! ² 

They will lift you up in their hands, so you will not slip and fall on a stone. ¹ 

indeed, if ¹  you call out for ²  discernment ³  – raise your voice ⁴  for understanding –

The sluggard plunges ¹  his hand in the dish; he is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth. ² 

The nations run away when they hear a loud noise; ¹  the nations scatter when you spring into action! ² 

So I will pull your skirt up over your face and expose you to shame like a disgraced adulteress! ¹ 

and ‘with their hands they will lift you up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” ¹
