You also lived your lives ¹  in this way at one time, when you used to live among them.

Although they fully know ¹  God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, ²  they not only do them but also approve of those who practice them. ³ 

Do not return evil for evil or insult for insult, but instead bless ¹  others ²  because you were called to inherit a blessing.

For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than, having known it, to turn back from the holy commandment that had been delivered to them.

whose heart did not bless me ¹  as he warmed himself with the fleece of my sheep, ² 

if I have raised my hand ¹  to vote against the orphan, when I saw my support in the court, ² 

The beginning ¹  of wisdom is to fear the Lord, ²  and acknowledging ³  the Holy One ⁴  is understanding.

The one who is wise in heart ¹  is called ²  discerning, and kind speech ³  increases persuasiveness. ⁴ 

Counsel ¹  in a person’s heart ²  is like ³  deep water, ⁴  but an understanding person ⁵  draws it out.

She is clothed ¹  with strength ²  and honor, ³  and she can laugh ⁴  at the time ⁵  to come.

Just as there is futility in many dreams, so also in many words. ¹  Therefore, fear God!

And you will be brought before governors and kings ¹  because of me, as a witness to them and the Gentiles.

Now when Jesus learned of this, he went away from there. Great ¹  crowds ²  followed him, and he healed them all.

But Jesus realized their evil intentions and said, “Hypocrites! Why are you testing me?

When Jesus perceived ¹  their hostile thoughts, ²  he said to them, ³  “Why are you raising objections ⁴  within yourselves?

For the law was given through Moses, but ¹  grace and truth came about through Jesus Christ.

So ¹  in all our distress and affliction, we were reassured about you, brothers and sisters, ²  through your faith.

to knowledge, self-control; to self-control, perseverance; ¹  to perseverance, godliness;

Someone went out to the field to gather some herbs and found a wild vine. ¹  He picked some of its fruit, ²  enough to fill up the fold of his robe. He came back, cut it up, and threw the slices ³  into the stew pot, not knowing they were harmful. ⁴ 

yet we know ¹  that no one ²  is justified by the works of the law ³  but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. ⁴  And ⁵  we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by the faithfulness of Christ ⁶  and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one ⁷  will be justified.
