You widen my path; ¹  my feet ²  do not slip.

I beat them ¹  to death; ²  they fall at my feet. ³ 

You give me strength ¹  for battle; you make my foes kneel before me. ² 

The one true God ¹  completely vindicates me; ²  he makes nations submit to me. ³ 

Because ¹  they hated moral knowledge, ²  and did not choose to fear the Lord, ³ 

As for the one who repays ¹  evil for good, evil will not leave ²  his house. ³ 

If you do not have enough to pay, your bed ¹  will be taken ²  right out from under you! ³ 

under a servant ¹  who becomes king, under a fool who is stuffed with food, ² 

under an unloved ¹  woman who is married, and under a female servant who dispossesses ²  her mistress.

What benefit ¹  do people ²  get from all the effort which ³  they expend ⁴  on earth? ⁵ 

For everything ¹  there is an appointed time, ²  and an appropriate time ³  for every activity ⁴  on earth: ⁵

to strengthen those who mourn in Zion, by giving them a turban, instead of ashes, oil symbolizing joy, ¹  instead of mourning, a garment symbolizing praise, ²  instead of discouragement. ³  They will be called oaks of righteousness, ⁴  trees planted by the Lord to reveal his splendor. ⁵
