By wisdom the Lord laid the foundation of the earth; ¹  he established the heavens by understanding. ² 

As the heaven is high ¹  and the earth is deep so the hearts of kings are unsearchable. ² 

For everything ¹  there is an appointed time, ²  and an appropriate time ³  for every activity ⁴  on earth: ⁵ 

(63:19b) ¹  If only you would tear apart the sky ²  and come down! The mountains would tremble ³  before you!

I looked and saw that there were no more people, ¹  and that all the birds in the sky had flown away.

Let us lift up our hearts ¹  and our hands to God in heaven:

Increase ¹  your merchants more than the stars of heaven! They are like ²  the young locust which sheds ³  its skin and flies away.

When you look up ¹  to the sky ²  and see the sun, moon, and stars – the whole heavenly creation ³  – you must not be seduced to worship and serve them, ⁴  for the Lord your God has assigned ⁵  them to all the people ⁶  of the world. ⁷ 

Of course, who can really build a temple for him, since the sky ¹  and the highest heavens cannot contain him? Who am I that I should build him a temple! It will really be only a place to offer sacrifices before him. ² 

“God does not really live with humankind on the earth! ¹  Look, if the sky and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this temple I have built!

God called the expanse “sky.” ¹  There was evening, and there was morning, a second day.

and let them serve as lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” It was so.

He blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by ¹  the Most High God, Creator ²  of heaven and earth. ³ 

Then the Lord rained down ¹  sulfur and fire ²  on Sodom and Gomorrah. It was sent down from the sky by the Lord. ³ 

But the Lord’s angel ¹  called to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am!” he answered.

May God give you the dew of the sky ¹  and the richness ²  of the earth, and plenty of grain and new wine.

and they saw ¹  the God of Israel. Under his feet ²  there was something like a pavement ³  made of sapphire, clear like the sky itself. ⁴ 

I will break your strong pride and make your sky like iron and your land like bronze.

The Lord your God has increased your population ¹  to the point that you are now as numerous as the very stars of the sky. ² 

any kind of land animal, any bird that flies in the sky,
