Deliver by your power ¹  and answer me, so that the ones you love may be safe. ² 

In my distress ¹  I cried out to the Lord. The Lord answered me and put me in a wide open place. ² 

ק (Qof) I cried out with all my heart, “Answer me, O Lord! I will observe your statutes.”

May my tongue sing about your instructions, ¹  for all your commands are just.

A song of ascents. ²  In my distress I cried out to the Lord and he answered me.

Then they will call to me, but I will not answer; they will diligently seek ¹  me, but they will not find me.

The heart of the righteous considers ¹  how ²  to answer, ³  but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things. ⁴ 

Answer a fool according to his folly, ¹  lest he be wise in his own estimation. ² 

“My people, how have I wronged you? ¹  How have I wearied you? Answer me!

For the stones in the walls will cry out, and the wooden rafters will answer back. ¹ 

Then Abraham asked, “Since I have undertaken to speak to the Lord ¹  (although I am but dust and ashes), ² 

Then Rachel and Leah replied to him, “Do we still have any portion or inheritance ¹  in our father’s house?

Joseph replied, “This is its meaning: The three baskets represent ¹  three days.

Miriam sang in response ¹  to them, “Sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and its rider he has thrown into the sea.” ² 

When the sound of the horn grew louder and louder, ¹  Moses was speaking ²  and God was answering him with a voice. ³ 

Joshua son of Nun, the servant ¹  of Moses, one of his choice young men, ²  said, ³  “My lord Moses, stop them!” ⁴ 

Then Israel sang ¹  this song: “Spring up, O well, sing to it!

Balaam replied, ¹  “Must I not be careful ²  to speak what the Lord has put in my mouth?” ³ 

The judges will thoroughly investigate the matter, and if the witness should prove to be false and to have given false testimony against the accused, ¹ 

Then they must proclaim, “Our hands have not spilled this blood, nor have we ¹  witnessed the crime. ²
