Then ¹  if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ ²  or ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe him.

As ¹  they were walking ²  along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” ³ 

Then ¹  the rich man ²  said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead ³  goes to them, they will repent.’

Whoever tries to keep ¹  his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life ²  will preserve it.

If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs ¹  it.’”

He answered, ¹  “I tell you, if they ²  keep silent, the very stones ³  will cry out!”

If I have told you people ¹  about earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? ² 

So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people ¹  see signs and wonders you will never believe!” ² 

But if anyone walks around at night, ¹  he stumbles, ²  because the light is not in him.”

Jesus responded, ¹  “Didn’t I tell you that if you believe, you would see the glory of God?”

Everyone ¹  will know by this that you are my disciples – if you have love for one another.”

Every person ¹  who does not obey that prophet will be destroyed and thus removed ²  from the people.’ ³ 

They know, ¹  because they have known ²  me from time past, ³  if they are willing to testify, that according to the strictest party ⁴  of our religion, I lived as a Pharisee. ⁵ 

Therefore if the uncircumcised man obeys ¹  the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?

And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How timely ¹  is the arrival ²  of those who proclaim the good news.” ³ 

And even they – if they do not continue in their unbelief – will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.

So if you have ordinary lawsuits, do you appoint as judges those who have no standing in the church? ¹ 

To the unmarried and widows I say that it is best for them to remain as I am.

(but if she does, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband), and a husband should not divorce his wife.

Does not nature ¹  itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace for him,
