It ¹  could have been sold for more than three hundred silver coins ²  and the money ³  given to the poor!” So ⁴  they spoke angrily to her.

He said to them, “This is my blood, the blood ¹  of the covenant, ²  that is poured out for many.

Mary ¹  said to the angel, “How will this be, since I have not had sexual relations with ²  a man?”

And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired ¹  to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

He testifies about what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony.

for you have had five husbands, and the man you are living with ¹  now is not your husband. This you said truthfully!”

Jesus did this as his second miraculous sign ¹  when he returned from Judea to Galilee.

This is why the Father loves me ¹  – because I lay down my life, ²  so that I may take it back again.

and the one who lives and believes in me will never die. ¹  Do you believe this?”

(For Jesus ¹  knew the one who was going to betray him. For this reason he said, “Not every one of you is ²  clean.”) ³ 

So they kept on repeating, ¹  “What is the meaning of what he says, ²  ‘In a little while’? ³  We do not understand ⁴  what he is talking about.” ⁵ 

Jesus replied, ¹  “Are you saying this on your own initiative, ²  or have others told you about me?”

After this Jesus, realizing that by this time ¹  everything was completed, ²  said (in order to fulfill the scripture), ³  “I am thirsty!” ⁴ 

All were astounded and greatly confused, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”

After ¹  making Peter and John ²  stand in their midst, they began to inquire, “By what power or by what name ³  did you do this?”

For the man, on whom this miraculous sign ¹  of healing had been performed, ²  was over forty years old.

So do what ¹  we tell you: We have four men ²  who have taken ³  a vow; ⁴ 

When he said this, ¹  an argument ²  began ³  between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.

“Therefore be advised ¹  that this salvation from God ²  has been sent to the Gentiles; ³  they ⁴  will listen!” ⁵ 

that is, that we may be mutually comforted by one another’s faith, ¹  both yours and mine.
