So ¹  the high priest stood up and said to him, “Have you no answer? What is this that they are testifying against you?”

He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. ¹  Then Pilate ordered that it be given to him.

“Why does this man speak this way? He is blaspheming! ¹  Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

For whoever does the will of God is ¹  my brother and sister and mother.”

He said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? Then ¹  how will you understand any parable?

Others are the ones sown among thorns: They are those who hear the word,

But Jesus said to them, “He wrote this commandment for you because of your hard hearts. ¹ 

They ¹  devour widows’ property, ²  and as a show make long prayers. These men will receive a more severe punishment.”

You will be hated by everyone because of my name. ¹  But the one who endures to the end will be saved. ² 

I tell you the truth, ¹  this generation ²  will not pass away until all these things take place.

But some who were present indignantly said to one another, “Why this waste of expensive ¹  ointment?

When the slave girl saw him, she began again to say to the bystanders, “This man is one of them.”

After some time ¹  his wife Elizabeth became pregnant, ²  and for five months she kept herself in seclusion. ³  She said, ⁴ 

But ¹  she was greatly troubled ²  by his words and began to wonder about the meaning of this greeting. ³ 

In those days ¹  Mary got up and went hurriedly into the hill country, to a town of Judah, ² 

Then ¹  he began to tell them, “Today ²  this scripture has been fulfilled even as you heard it being read.” ³ 

This ¹  report ²  about Jesus ³  circulated ⁴  throughout ⁵  Judea and all the surrounding country.

But ¹  those who were at the table ²  with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?”

so that this generation may be held accountable ¹  for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning ²  of the world, ³ 

Then ¹  Peter said, “Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for everyone?” ²
