After this many of his disciples quit following him ¹  and did not accompany him ²  any longer.

The disciples replied, ¹  “Rabbi, the Jewish leaders ²  were just now trying ³  to stone you to death! Are ⁴  you going there again?”

But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was going to betray him) ¹  said,

Everyone ¹  will know by this that you are my disciples – if you have love for one another.”

My Father is honored ¹  by this, that ²  you bear ³  much fruit and show that you are ⁴  my disciples.

His disciples said, “Look, now you are speaking plainly ¹  and not in obscure figures of speech! ² 

While this was happening, ¹  the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching. ² 

After this ¹  Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias. ²  Now this is how he did so. ³ 

Meanwhile Saul, still breathing out threats ¹  to murder ²  the Lord’s disciples, went to the high priest

and after taking some food, his strength returned. For several days ¹  he was with the disciples in Damascus,

But his disciples took him at night and let him down through an opening ¹  in the wall by lowering him in a basket. ² 

After he spent ¹  some time there, Paul left and went through the region of Galatia ²  and Phrygia, ³  strengthening all the disciples.

Even from among your own group ¹  men ²  will arise, teaching perversions of the truth ³  to draw the disciples away after them.

When ¹  he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain. ²  After he sat down his disciples came to him.

As ¹  Jesus ²  was having a meal ³  in Matthew’s ⁴  house, many tax collectors ⁵  and sinners came and ate with Jesus and his disciples.

When the Pharisees ¹  saw this they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” ² 

Jesus ¹  called his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits ²  so they could cast them out and heal every kind of disease and sickness. ³ 

When ¹  Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in their towns.

But when the Pharisees ¹  saw this they said to him, “Look, your disciples are doing what is against the law to do on the Sabbath.”

And pointing ¹  toward his disciples he said, “Here ²  are my mother and my brothers!
