And the landowner ¹  replied to one of them, ²  ‘Friend, I am not treating you unfairly. Didn’t you agree with me to work for the standard wage? ³ 

But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher and you are all brothers.

And call no one your ‘father’ on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.

But the one who had received one talent went out and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money in it.

And while they were eating he said, “I tell you the truth, ¹  one of you will betray me.” ² 

They ¹  became greatly distressed ²  and each one began to say to him, “Surely not I, Lord?”

During the feast the governor was accustomed to release one prisoner to the crowd, ¹  whomever they wanted.

“Why does this man speak this way? He is blaspheming! ¹  Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

Then ¹  one of the synagogue rulers, ²  named Jairus, ³  came up, and when he saw Jesus, ⁴  he fell at his feet.

Others said, “He is Elijah.” Others said, “He is a prophet, like one of the prophets from the past.”

Now ¹  they had forgotten to take bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.

Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? ¹  No one is good except God alone.

Then ¹  Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus into their hands. ² 

Now ¹  while Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the high priest’s slave girls ²  came by.

And very early on the first day of the week, at sunrise, they went to the tomb.

“A certain creditor ¹  had two debtors; one owed him ²  five hundred silver coins, ³  and the other fifty.

but one thing ¹  is needed. Mary has chosen the best ²  part; it will not be taken away from her.”

Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? ¹  Yet not one of them is forgotten before God.

For from now on ¹  there will be five in one household divided, three against two and two against three.

In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels ¹  over one sinner who repents.”
