After two years ¹  had passed, Porcius Festus ²  succeeded Felix, ³  and because he wanted to do the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul in prison. ⁴ 

But ¹  Abram ²  said, “O sovereign Lord, ³  by what ⁴  can I know that I am to possess it?”

Will you show him partiality? ¹  Will you argue the case ²  for God?

“How long until you ¹  make an end of words? ²  You must consider, ³  and then ⁴  we can talk.

Your precepts give me discernment. Therefore I hate all deceitful actions. ¹ 

then you will understand ¹  how to fear the Lord, ²  and you will discover ³  knowledge ⁴  about God. ⁵ 

Then you will find ¹  favor and good understanding, ²  in the sight of God and people. ³ 

This will bring ¹  healing to your body, ²  and refreshment ³  to your inner self. ⁴ 

Better to have a little with righteousness ¹  than to have abundant income without justice. ² 

Do not wear yourself out to become rich; be wise enough to restrain yourself. ¹ 

A person’s pride ¹  will bring him low, ²  but one who has a lowly spirit ³  will gain honor.

I fast twice ¹  a week; I give a tenth ²  of everything I get.’

So ¹  the first one came before him and said, ‘Sir, ²  your mina ³  has made ten minas more.’

Then ¹  the second one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has made five minas.’

so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.” ¹ 

But the word of God ¹  kept on increasing ²  and multiplying.

Most excellent Felix, ¹  we acknowledge this everywhere and in every way ²  with all gratitude. ³ 

No, in all these things we have complete victory ¹  through him ²  who loved us!

I have not taken advantage of you through anyone I have sent to you, have I? ¹ 

So I thought to myself, “The fate of the fool will happen even to me! ¹  Then what did I gain by becoming so excessively ²  wise?” ³  So I lamented to myself, ⁴  “The benefits of wisdom ⁵  are ultimately ⁶  meaningless!”
