Abner said to Joab, “Let the soldiers get up and fight ¹  before us.” Joab said, “So be it!” ² 

But I am greatly displeased with the nations that take my grace for granted. ¹  I was a little displeased with them, but they have only made things worse for themselves.

Going a little farther, he threw himself to the ground and prayed that if it were possible the hour would pass from him.

Then ¹  he came up ²  and touched ³  the bier, ⁴  and those who carried it stood still. He ⁵  said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!”

He regarded abuse suffered for Christ ¹  to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for his eyes were fixed on ²  the reward.

The man became wealthy. ¹  His influence continued to grow ²  until he became very prominent.

Next he brought Aaron’s sons forward, and Moses put some of the blood on their right earlobes, on their right thumbs, and on the big toes of their right feet, and Moses splashed the rest of the blood against the altar’s sides.

This was the first time they set out on their journey according to the commandment ¹  of the Lord, by the authority ²  of Moses.

¹ The Israelites traveled on and camped in Oboth.

So the Israelites marched toward ¹  the Benjaminites the next day.

¹ The Philistine kept coming closer to David, with his shield bearer walking in front of him.

Will you show him partiality? ¹  Will you argue the case ²  for God?

They destroy ¹  my path; they succeed in destroying me ²  without anyone assisting ³  them.

Therefore I say, ‘Listen ¹  to me. I, even I, will explain what I know.’

I too will answer my part, I too will explain what I know.

Do you make it leap ¹  like a locust? Its proud neighing ²  is terrifying!

Violent men perjure themselves, ¹  and falsely accuse me. ² 

locusts have no king, but they all go forward by ranks; ¹ 

How beautiful you are! How lovely, O love, ¹  with your delights! ² 

The Lord takes his position to judge; he stands up to pass sentence on his people. ¹
