At the court on the west there were four posted on the road and two at the court.

He brought in the priests and Levites and assembled them in the square on the east side.

Planted in the Lord’s house, they grow in the courts of our God.

He brought me to the entrance of the court, and as I watched, I noticed a hole in the wall.

Then he brought me to the north gate, and he measured it; it had the same dimensions as the others –

and the chambers of the court was 35 feet ¹  in width all around the temple on every side.

When a strong man, ¹  fully armed, guards his own palace, ²  his possessions are safe. ³ 

When he knocked at the door of the outer gate, a slave girl named Rhoda answered. ¹ 

The priests then entered the Lord’s temple to purify it; they brought out to the courtyard of the Lord’s temple every ceremonially unclean thing they discovered inside. ¹  The Levites took them out to the Kidron Valley.

So the officials ¹  took Jeremiah and put him in the cistern ²  of Malkijah, one of the royal princes, ³  that was in the courtyard of the guardhouse. There was no water in the cistern, only mud. So when they lowered Jeremiah into the cistern with ropes he sank in the mud. ⁴ 

Then he said to me, “The north chambers and the south chambers which face the courtyard are holy chambers where the priests ¹  who approach the Lord will eat the most holy offerings. There they will place the most holy offerings – the grain offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering, because the place is holy.

The hangings on one side ¹  of the gate are to be ²  twenty-two and a half feet long, with their three posts and their three bases.

For the west side there were ¹  hangings seventy-five feet long, with ²  their ten posts and their ten bases, with the hooks of the posts and their bands of silver.

The king’s attendants said to him, “It is Haman who is standing in the courtyard.” The king said, “Let him enter.”

Her fortresses will be overgrown with thorns; thickets and weeds will grow ¹  in her fortified cities. Jackals will settle there; ostriches will live there. ² 

For the Lord who rules over all ¹  has already spoken about the two bronze pillars, ²  the large bronze basin called ‘The Sea,’ ³  and the movable bronze stands. ⁴  He has already spoken about the rest of the valuable articles that are left in this city.

The sound of the wings of the cherubim could be heard from the outer court, like the sound of the sovereign God ¹  when he speaks.

He measured the porch of the gate as 14 feet, ¹  and its jambs as 3½ feet; ²  the porch of the gate faced inward.

He measured the length and width of the gate of the outer court which faces north.
