Yet she increased her prostitution, remembering the days of her youth when she engaged in prostitution in the land of Egypt.

So the slaves ¹  of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Then where did the weeds come from?’

I was a stranger and you did not receive me as a guest, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’

When he came again he found them sleeping; they could not keep their eyes open. ¹  And they did not know what to tell him.

But ¹  when the feast was over, ²  as they were returning home, ³  the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His ⁴  parents ⁵  did not know it,

But ¹  the twelve ²  understood none of these things. This ³  saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp ⁴  what Jesus meant. ⁵ 

But the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had slipped out, since there was a crowd in that place.

Now the Jewish religious leaders ¹  refused to believe ²  that he had really been blind and had gained his sight until at last they summoned ³  the parents of the man who had become able to see. ⁴ 

(Now he did not say this on his own, ¹  but because he was high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the Jewish nation, ² 

When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, ¹  but she did not know that it was Jesus.

He thought his own people ¹  would understand that God was delivering them ²  through him, ³  but they did not understand. ⁴ 

Peter ¹  went out ²  and followed him; ³  he did not realize that what was happening through the angel was real, ⁴  but thought he was seeing a vision.

Those who were with me saw the light, but did not understand ¹  the voice of the one who was speaking to me.

For even Christ did not please himself, but just as it is written, “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” ¹ 

When I came ¹  to you, brothers and sisters, ²  I did not come with superior eloquence or wisdom as I proclaimed the testimony ³  of God.

It was not because we do not have that right, but to give ourselves as an example for you to imitate. ¹ 

even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor, and an arrogant ¹  man. But I was treated with mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief,

Three days later Laban discovered Jacob had left. ¹ 

Then a new king, ¹  who did not know about ²  Joseph, came to power ³  over Egypt.

The sons of Eli were wicked men. ¹  They did not recognize the Lord’s authority. ²
