1 The Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out 2  of the land of Egypt:

So Moses went out and told the people the words of the Lord. He then gathered seventy men of the elders of the people and had them stand around the tabernacle.

With him I will speak face to face, 1  openly, 2  and not in riddles; and he will see the form 3  of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”

The Lord said to Moses, “If her father had only spit 1  in her face, would she not have been disgraced for seven days? Shut her out from the camp seven days, and afterward she can be brought back in again.”

Why has the Lord brought us into this land only to be killed by the sword, that our wives and our children should become plunder? Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?”

If the Lord delights in us, then he will bring us into this land and give it to us – a land that is flowing with milk and honey. 1

However, the whole community threatened to stone them. 1  But 2  the glory 3  of the Lord appeared to all the Israelites at the tent 4  of meeting.
