O God, when you lead your people into battle, ¹  when you march through the desert, ²  (Selah)

They insulted God, saying, ¹  “Is God really able to give us food ²  in the wilderness?

So he made a solemn vow ¹  that he would make them die ²  in the desert,

At the risk ¹  of our lives ²  we get our food ³  because robbers lurk ⁴  in the countryside. ⁵
