But the wise will shine like the brightness of the heavenly expanse. And those bringing many to righteousness will be like the stars forever and ever.

Then ¹  the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky ²  to the earth, and he was given the key to the shaft of the abyss. ³ 

Then ¹  I saw a large ²  white throne and the one who was seated on it; the earth and the heaven ³  fled ⁴  from his presence, and no place was found for them.

Then the Lord rained down ¹  sulfur and fire ²  on Sodom and Gomorrah. It was sent down from the sky by the Lord. ³ 

any kind of land animal, any bird that flies in the sky,

He shrouded himself in darkness, ¹  in thick rain clouds. ² 

“But now, ask the animals and they ²  will teach you, or the birds of the sky and they will tell you.

the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea and everything that moves through the currents ¹  of the seas.

The clouds poured down rain; ¹  the skies thundered. ²  Yes, your arrows ³  flashed about.

Let the sky rejoice, and the earth be happy! Let the sea and everything in it shout!

They ¹  reached up to the sky, then dropped into the depths. The sailors’ strength ²  left them ³  because the danger was so great. ⁴ 

Increase ¹  your merchants more than the stars of heaven! They are like ²  the young locust which sheds ³  its skin and flies away.

This is why the sky ¹  has held back its dew and the earth its produce. ² 

Then ¹  he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land sprouted with a harvest.

The sun stood still and the moon stood motionless while the nation took vengeance on its enemies. The event is recorded in the Scroll of the Upright One. ¹  The sun stood motionless in the middle of the sky and did not set for about a full day. ² 

Then ¹  the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, ²  and ³  all the tribes of the earth will mourn. They ⁴  will see the Son of Man arriving on the clouds of heaven ⁵  with power and great glory.

The Lord ¹  took him outside and said, “Gaze into the sky and count the stars – if you are able to count them!” Then he said to him, “So will your descendants be.”

I will multiply your descendants so they will be as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give them ¹  all these lands. All the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using the name of your descendants. ² 

Listen, Israel: Today you are about to cross the Jordan so you can dispossess the nations there, people greater and stronger than you who live in large cities with extremely high fortifications. ¹ 

When your ancestors went down to Egypt, they numbered only seventy, but now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars of the sky. ¹
