Then ¹  he said to them, “Why are you frightened, ²  and why do doubts ³  arise in your hearts?

So he was staying with them, associating openly with them ¹  in Jerusalem, speaking out boldly in the name of the Lord.

But get up, ¹  go down, and accompany them without hesitation, ²  because I have sent them.”

Therefore when you sent for me, ¹  I came without any objection. Now may I ask why ²  you sent for me?”

When ¹  they had heard my case, ²  they wanted to release me, ³  because there was no basis for a death sentence ⁴  against me.

The one who is spiritual discerns ¹  all things, yet he himself is understood ²  by no one.

But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, ¹  quarrels, and fights about the law, ²  because they are useless and empty.

They judged the people under normal circumstances; the difficult cases they would bring ¹  to Moses, but every small case they would judge themselves.

Any man who rebels against what you say and does not obey all your commands will be executed. ¹  But ²  be strong and brave!”

Samuel said, “Why are you asking me, now that the Lord has turned away from you and has become your enemy?

When Uriah came to him, David asked about how Joab and the army were doing and how the campaign was going. ¹ 

He said, “Why do you want to go see him today? It is not the new moon ¹  or the Sabbath.” She said, “Everything’s fine.” ² 

to show you true and reliable words, ¹  so that you may give accurate answers ²  to those who sent you?

How will they respond to the messengers of this nation? ¹  Indeed, the Lord has made Zion secure; the oppressed among his people will find safety in her.

So I, Jeremiah, tell you, ¹  “Each of you people should say to his friend or his relative, ‘How did the Lord answer? Or what did the Lord say?’ ² 

Then Herod ¹  privately summoned the wise men and determined from them when the star had appeared.

Then the Pharisees ¹  came and began to argue with Jesus, asking for ²  a sign from heaven ³  to test him.

When they persisted in asking him, he stood up straight ¹  and replied, ²  “Whoever among you is guiltless ³  may be the first to throw a stone at her.”

Why do you ask me? Ask those who heard what I said. ¹  They ²  know what I said.”

He ¹  did not waver in unbelief about the promise of God but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God.
