So ¹  they went out and preached that all should repent.

as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from long ago, ¹ 

But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”

and when they had spoken the word ¹  in Perga, ²  they went down to Attalia. ³ 

Also some of the Epicurean ¹  and Stoic ²  philosophers were conversing ³  with him, and some were asking, ⁴  “What does this foolish babbler ⁵  want to say?” Others said, “He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods.” ⁶  (They said this because he was proclaiming the good news about Jesus and the resurrection.) ⁷ 

Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached word ¹  of Christ. ² 

This is the reason I was often hindered from coming to you.

But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, ¹  encouragement, and consolation.

In it ¹  he went and preached to the spirits in prison, ² 

Then the prophets Haggai and Zechariah son ¹  of Iddo ²  prophesied concerning the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem ³  in the name of the God of Israel who was over them.

They went out and proclaimed everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through the accompanying signs.]]

He began to speak out fearlessly ¹  in the synagogue, ²  but when Priscilla and Aquila ³  heard him, they took him aside ⁴  and explained the way of God to him more accurately.

but I declared to those in Damascus first, and then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, ¹  and to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, ²  performing deeds consistent with ³  repentance.

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” ¹  (that is, the word of faith that we preach),

in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem even as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

For if someone comes and proclaims ¹  another Jesus different from the one we proclaimed, ²  or if you receive a different spirit than the one you received, ³  or a different gospel than the one you accepted, ⁴  you put up with it well enough! ⁵ 

But from those who were influential ¹  (whatever they were makes no difference to me; God shows no favoritism between people ² ) – those influential leaders ³  added ⁴  nothing to my message. ⁵ 

They are prophesying lies to you and claiming my authority to do so. ¹  But I did not send them. I, the Lord, affirm it!’ ² 

For there will no longer be any false visions or flattering omens amidst the house of Israel.

And you will be brought before governors and kings ¹  because of me, as a witness to them and the Gentiles.
