Many will stumble over the stone and the rock, ¹  and will fall and be seriously injured, and will be ensnared and captured.”

When they stumble, they will be granted some help. But many will unite with them deceitfully.

The more the priests increased in numbers, the more they rebelled against me. They have turned ¹  their glorious calling into a shameful disgrace!

Then many will be led into sin, ¹  and they will betray one another and hate one another.

But many of those who had listened to ¹  the message ²  believed, and the number of the men ³  came to about five thousand.

More and more believers in the Lord were added to their number, ¹  crowds of both men and women.

The ¹  hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed ²  turned ³  to the Lord.

And the others ¹  who became priests were numerous, because death prevented them ²  from continuing in office, ³ 

Jehoshaphat and his men ¹  went to gather the plunder; they found a huge amount of supplies, clothing ²  and valuable items. They carried away everything they could. ³  There was so much plunder, it took them three days to haul it off. ⁴ 

Uzziah had an army of skilled warriors trained for battle. They were organized by divisions according to the muster rolls made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer under the authority of Hananiah, a royal official.

May God enlarge Japheth’s territory and numbers! ¹  May he live ²  in the tents of Shem and may Canaan be his slave!”

May the sovereign God ¹  bless you! May he make you fruitful and give you a multitude of descendants! ²  Then you will become ³  a large nation. ⁴ 

Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen, and they owned land there. They were fruitful and increased rapidly in number.

The Israelites, ¹  however, ²  were fruitful, increased greatly, multiplied, and became extremely strong, ³  so that the land was filled with them.

In the evening the quail ¹  came up and covered the camp, and in the morning a layer of dew was all around the camp.

This is the law ¹  of the land animals, the birds, all the living creatures that move in the water, and all the creatures ²  that swarm on the land,

These were the men whom Moses and Aaron numbered ¹  along with the twelve leaders of Israel, each of whom ²  was from his own family.

So the Lord sent poisonous ¹  snakes ²  among the people, and they bit the people; many people of Israel died.

And the Moabites were greatly afraid of the people, because they were so numerous. The Moabites were sick with fear because of the Israelites.

In the east they settled as far as the entrance to the desert that stretches to the Euphrates River, for their cattle had increased in numbers in the land of Gilead.
