So they ran and brought him from there. When he took his position among the people, he stood head and shoulders above them all.

Then David crossed to the other side and stood on the top of the hill some distance away; there was a considerable distance between them.

The elders of his house stood over him and tried to lift him from the ground, but he was unwilling, and refused to eat food with them.

Then the king stood up and tore his garments and lay down on the ground. All his servants were standing there with torn garments as well.

While the battle raged throughout the day, the king stood propped up in his chariot opposite the Syrians. He died in the evening as the sun was setting.

Jehoshaphat stood before the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem ¹  at the Lord’s temple, in front of the new courtyard.

Preparations were made, ¹  and the priests stood at their posts and the Levites in their divisions as prescribed by the king.

Then the Levites – Jeshua, Binnui, ¹  Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Kenani – stood on the steps and called out loudly ²  to the LORD their God.

The chief adviser then stood there and called out loudly in the Judahite dialect, ¹  “Listen to the message of the great king, the king of Assyria.
