He said to them, “Pick me up and throw me into the sea to make the sea quiet down, ¹  because I know it’s my fault you are in this severe storm.”

Moreover, on that day living waters will flow out from Jerusalem, ¹  half of them to the eastern sea ²  and half of them to the western sea; ³  it will happen both in summer and in winter.

But ¹  you blew with your breath, and ²  the sea covered them. They sank ³  like lead in the mighty waters.

There the border will turn from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, and then its direction is to the sea. ¹ 

“‘And for a western border ¹  you will have the Great Sea. ²  This will be your western border.

“‘And this will be your northern border: From the Great Sea you will draw a line to Mount Hor;

But as for you, ¹  turn back and head for the desert by the way to the Red Sea.” ² 

The western border was the Mediterranean Sea. ¹  These were the borders of the tribe of Judah and its clans. ² 

When they left ¹  Egypt, Israel traveled ²  through the desert as far as the Red Sea and then came to Kadesh.

“You saw the affliction of our ancestors in Egypt, and you heard their cry at the Red Sea. ¹ 

But because it is heavier ¹  than the sand ²  of the sea, that is why my words have been wild. ³ 

Am I the sea, or the creature of the deep, ¹  that you must put ²  me under guard? ³ 

Or speak ¹  to the earth ²  and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea declare to you.

The deep ¹  says, ‘It is not with ²  me.’ And the sea says, ‘It is not with me.’

Have you gone to the springs that fill the sea, ¹  or walked about in the recesses of the deep?

It makes the deep boil like a cauldron and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment, ¹ 

the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea and everything that moves through the currents ¹  of the seas.

Your justice is like the highest mountains, ¹  your fairness like the deepest sea; you preserve ²  mankind and the animal kingdom. ³ 

He turned the sea into dry land; ¹  they passed through the river on foot. ²  Let us rejoice in him there! ³ 

The Lord says, “I will retrieve them ¹  from Bashan, I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,
