Yes, ¹  throughout all our days we experience your raging fury; ²  the years of our lives pass quickly, like a sigh. ³ 

May our sovereign God extend his favor to us! ¹  Make our endeavors successful! Yes, make them successful! ² 

Praise ¹  the Lord our God! Worship on his holy hill, for the Lord our God is holy!

He does not deal with us as our sins deserve; ¹  he does not repay us as our misdeeds deserve. ² 

the cedars are the beams of our bedroom chamber; the pines are the rafters of our bedroom.

We must pay money ¹  for our own water; ²  we must buy our own wood at a steep price. ³ 

Because of this, our hearts are sick; ¹  because of these things, we can hardly see ²  through our tears. ³ 

In this way what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet was fulfilled: ¹  “He took our weaknesses and carried our diseases.” ² 

He ¹  was given over ²  because of our transgressions and was raised for the sake of ³  our justification. ⁴ 

You learned the gospel ¹  from Epaphras, our dear fellow slave ²  – a ³  faithful minister of Christ on our ⁴  behalf –

From Paul, ¹  a prisoner of Christ Jesus, ²  and Timothy our ³  brother, to Philemon, our dear friend ⁴  and colaborer,

to Apphia ¹  our sister, ²  to Archippus our ³  fellow soldier, and to the church that meets in your house.

where Jesus our forerunner entered on our behalf, since he became a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek. ¹ 

that ¹  if our conscience condemns ²  us, that ³  God is greater than our conscience and knows all things.

“So now, our God – the great, powerful, and awesome God, who keeps covenant fidelity ¹  – do not regard as inconsequential ²  all the hardship that has befallen us – our kings, our leaders, our priests, our prophets, our ancestors, and all your people – from the days of the kings of Assyria until this very day!

We also accept responsibility, as is written in the law, for bringing the firstborn of our sons and our cattle and the firstborn of our herds and of our flocks to the temple of our God, to the priests who are ministering in the temple of our God.

When that year was over, they came to him the next year and said to him, “We cannot hide from our ¹  lord that the money is used up and the livestock and the animals belong to our lord. Nothing remains before our lord except our bodies and our land.

And now, though we share the same flesh and blood as our fellow countrymen, ¹  and our children are just like their children, ²  still we have found it necessary to subject our sons and daughters to slavery. ³  Some of our daughters have been subjected to slavery, while we are powerless to help, ⁴  since our fields and vineyards now belong to other people.” ⁵ 

For the Lord our God took us and our fathers out of slavery ¹  in the land of Egypt ²  and performed these awesome miracles ³  before our very eyes. He continually protected us as we traveled and when we passed through nations. ⁴
