When the disciples heard this, they were overwhelmed with fear and threw themselves down with their faces to the ground. ¹ 

The disciples asked him, ¹  “Why then do the experts in the law ²  say that Elijah must come first?”

Then the disciples came ¹  to Jesus privately and said, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?”

At that time the disciples came to Jesus saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

Now ¹  when they approached Jerusalem ²  and came to Bethphage, ³  at the Mount of Olives, ⁴  Jesus sent two disciples,

When the disciples saw it they were amazed, saying, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?”

So ¹  they left the tomb quickly, with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came at night and stole his body ¹  while we were asleep.’

He did not speak to them without a parable. But privately he explained everything to his own disciples.

His disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing against you and you say, ‘Who touched me?’”

When John’s ¹  disciples heard this, they came and took his body and placed it in a tomb.

And they saw that some of Jesus’ disciples ate their bread with unclean hands, that is, unwashed.

Now ¹  when Jesus ²  had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about the parable.

His disciples answered him, “Where can someone get enough bread in this desolate place to satisfy these people?”

Then, ¹  after he went into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?”

Now ¹  people were bringing little children to him for him to touch, ²  but the disciples scolded those who brought them. ³ 

Now ¹  as they approached Jerusalem, ²  near Bethphage ³  and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, ⁴  Jesus ⁵  sent two of his disciples

He said to it, ¹  “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it. ² 

Then ¹  they went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus ²  said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.”

When ¹  morning came, he called his disciples and chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles: ²
