“On the north will be the divisions of the camp of Dan, under their standards. The leader of the people of Dan is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai.

Now the leader of the clan of the families of Merari was Zuriel son of Abihail. These were to camp on the north side of the tabernacle.

“Command the Israelites to expel ¹  from the camp every leper, ²  everyone who has a discharge, ³  and whoever becomes defiled by a corpse. ⁴ 

You must expel both men and women; you must put them outside the camp, so that ¹  they will not defile their camps, among which I live.”

So the Israelites did so, and expelled them outside the camp. As the Lord had spoken ¹  to Moses, so the Israelites did.

The standard ¹  of the camp of the Judahites set out first according to their companies, and over his company was Nahshon son of Amminadab.

The standard of the camp of Reuben set out according to their companies; over his company was Elizur son of Shedeur.

And the standard of the camp of the Ephraimites set out according to their companies; over his company was Elishama son of Ammihud.

Moses ¹  said, “Do not leave us, ²  because you know places for us to camp in the wilderness, and you could be our guide. ³ 

So Miriam was shut outside of the camp for seven days, and the people did not journey on until Miriam was brought back in. ¹ 

But they dared ¹  to go up to the crest of the hill, although ²  neither the ark of the covenant of the Lord nor Moses departed from the camp.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “The man must surely be put to death; the whole community must stone ¹  him with stones outside the camp.”

You must give it to Eleazar the priest so that he can take it outside the camp, and it must be slaughtered before him. ¹ 

You must wash your clothes on the seventh day, and you will be ceremonially clean, and afterward you may enter the camp.’”

Indeed, it was the very hand of the Lord that eliminated them from within ¹  the camp until they were all gone.

If there is someone among you who is impure because of some nocturnal emission, ¹  he must leave the camp; he may not reenter it immediately.

So Joshua made sure they marched the ark of the Lord around the city one time. ¹  Then they went back to the camp and spent the night there. ² 

They marched around the city one time on the second day, then returned to the camp. They did this six days in all.

He said to them, “Watch me and do as I do. Watch closely! ¹  I am going to the edge of the camp. Do as I do!

When I and all who are with me blow our trumpets, you also blow your trumpets all around the camp. Then say, ‘For the Lord and for Gideon!’”
